Zayed Military Hospital (ZMH) in Abu Dhabi is the hospital of the UAE Armed Forces, providing tertiary care to military personnel and their families. It is operated under the UAE Ministry of Defence's military medical services and is a general hospital with inpatient, emergency, critical care and specialist outpatient services.
The hospital is listed in Abu Dhabi health facility directories as licensed by the Department of Health Abu Dhabi (DOH). In practice that means its clinical staff work under DOH professional licences and the same Unified PQR standards as other Abu Dhabi hospitals, even though the hospital serves a military population.
ZMH is also a teaching hospital. In February 2022 the National Institute for Health Specialties accredited it to deliver UAE Board residency programmes in internal medicine, family medicine and emergency medicine, making it the first military medical institution in the country to award the UAE Board.
It should not be confused with the former Zayed Military Hospital in Al Batayeh, Sharjah, which M42 manages in partnership with the Ministry of Defence and which was renamed Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Hospital on 1 January 2025 when it opened to the wider community.
Because the hospital serves the Armed Forces, recruitment is less public than at civilian hospitals and some roles are reserved for UAE nationals or require security clearance. Expatriate clinicians do work at the hospital, typically in nursing, allied health and specialist medical roles.

Zayed Military Hospital offers clinicians a stable government-sector environment, structured training (including UAE Board residency programmes) and experience in emergency, internal and family medicine and surgery. Government and military packages in Abu Dhabi typically include housing or a housing allowance, annual flights, medical cover and end-of-service gratuity, but terms vary by contract and nationality, and some positions are reserved for UAE nationals. Expect longer pre-employment checks than at civilian hospitals because of security clearance.

Vacancies are filled through the UAE Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces recruitment channels, and the hospital's own announcements; ignore third-party job sites that claim to take applications for ZMH or ask for fees. Candidates go through interviews, credential verification, medical fitness and security clearance. Clinical staff need a Department of Health Abu Dhabi (DOH) licence: an eligibility check against the Unified PQR through TAMM, DataFlow primary source verification, and the DOH exam delivered by Pearson VUE unless your qualification is exempt.
