Doctors (Physicians & Surgeons)
DHP classifies physicians from Resident through Senior Consultant. Under Circular DHP/2025/24, medical degrees must be from a minimum 6-year program. Specialists need recognized postgraduate training plus experience. The QCHP Prometric exam is specialty-specific. Some specialties may require additional oral assessment. Qatar's Hamad Medical Corporation and Sidra Medicine actively recruit specialist physicians.
Nurses & Midwives
DHP requires a BSN from a recognized institution for registered nurse classification. DHP has tightened its recognized universities list for nursing, particularly for Asian institutions. Specialized nursing certifications (critical care, emergency, neonatal) are highly valued. Qatar offers some of the highest nursing salaries in the GCC.
Allied Health Professionals
DHP licenses a comprehensive range of allied health professions. The recognized institutions list for allied health was tightened in recent years. A bachelor-level qualification from a recognized institution is the standard minimum. The updated CPD framework (2023-2024) requires ongoing professional development for license renewal.
Pharmacists
A 5-year BPharm or PharmD from a recognized institution is required. Under the new DHP framework, academic duration is verified as part of PSV.
