Al Seef Hospital is a private hospital in Salmiya, Kuwait, established in 2009. It is a subsidiary of United Medical Services Company (UMS), a closed Kuwaiti shareholding company founded in 2003 with KD 15 million in paid-up capital. The hospital describes its aim as becoming the largest and most reputed family healthcare provider in the GCC.
The hospital focuses on women's and children's health alongside a broad set of medical and surgical specialties. Its services include obstetrics and gynaecology, a Reproductive Medicine and IVF Center, paediatrics and neonatology with a neonatal intensive care unit, internal medicine and its subspecialties, general, paediatric, plastic and thoracic surgery, orthopaedics, urology, ENT, ophthalmology, dermatology and a large dental department.
The building on Al Blajat Street was designed by Langdon Wilson International with Gulf Consult around the theme of the birth of a child. Gulf Consult lists it as an 80-bed hospital of 46,770 square metres, completed in 2010, and the project won Best Physical Environment at the Hospital Build Middle East Exhibition and Congress in Dubai in 2011. The hospital offers premium suites and digital operating rooms.
Al Seef reports a workforce of more than 1,400 people of 30 nationalities, including more than 140 doctors and more than 400 nursing staff. It runs its own recruitment through an online careers portal, with structured interviews and a published list of allowances.
For nurses, midwives and doctors with obstetric, neonatal, IVF or paediatric experience, Al Seef is one of the main private employers in these fields in Kuwait. All clinical staff still need a Kuwait Ministry of Health licence, as private hospitals in Kuwait are licensed by the MOH.
