Overview of Turkish Hospital
The Turkish Hospital is a private multispecialty hospital on C Ring Road in New Salata, Doha. It opened in January 2017 as Qatar's first Turkish hospital and was formally inaugurated the following month in the presence of Turkey's foreign minister.
The hospital was founded as a joint venture between Qatar's Taleb Group and Turkey's Ruzgar Group. Its chairman is Mohamed Taleb Al Khauri of the Taleb Group. At launch it had 100 inpatient beds, five operating theatres, a 14-bed ICU and more than 20 outpatient clinics, with 40 Turkish doctors and nursing and support staff recruited from countries including the Philippines, India, Egypt and Albania.
Today the hospital lists departments in paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, internal medicine, family medicine, ENT, orthopaedics, cardiology, general surgery, plastic and aesthetic surgery, anaesthesiology, dermatology, radiology, neurosurgery and spine, urology, dietetics, physiotherapy and psychology, plus a laboratory. It runs a 24-hour emergency department and 24-hour paediatrics, alongside a dental clinic and a beauty clinic.
The hospital's stated mission is to bring international standards of healthcare to Qatar, with medical and clinical staff selected from Turkey and around the world. It accepts major insurance plans operating in Qatar as well as self-pay patients.
For healthcare professionals, the Turkish Hospital is a mid-sized private employer with a multinational team. All clinical staff need a licence from Qatar's Department of Healthcare Professions (DHP, formerly QCHP).
