Overview of SKSH
Sheikh Khalifa Specialty Hospital (SKSH) is a federal government tertiary referral hospital in Ras Al Khaimah. It was built as part of the Sheikh Khalifa hospital programme for the Northern Emirates and was officially inaugurated in 2015 under the patronage of the late President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The six-storey building sits on Al Shohadaa Road, near Exit 119.
Since August 2014 the hospital has been operated by Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH) of South Korea under a management contract. SNUH renewed the contract in 2019 and again in 2024, and describes SKSH as the first hospital an overseas institution has run in the UAE for more than ten years. The hospital's own site still lists it as managed by SNUH.
SKSH has 246 inpatient beds across seven general wards plus a VIP ward, a 10-bed cardiac ICU, a 20-bed medical ICU and a large post-operative recovery area, with 10 operating theatres. Its clinical focus is on three centres: cancer, cardiovascular disease and neuroscience, supported by emergency medicine, rehabilitation, paediatrics, imaging and laboratory services.
According to SNUH, the hospital employed 664 staff in 2024, including 99 clinicians and managers seconded from Seoul, and handled 84,859 outpatient visits in 2023, more than 7,000 a month. The mix of Korean consultants and an international nursing and allied health workforce gives the hospital a distinctive working culture compared with other Northern Emirates employers.
SKSH holds Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation, which SNUH reports the hospital has achieved three times, and stroke care recognition from the American Stroke Association and the MENA Stroke Organization. For healthcare professionals, it is one of the few places in Ras Al Khaimah to work in cardiac surgery, interventional cardiology, radiation oncology and neurosurgery.

Careers at SKSH (2026)
SKSH suits clinicians who want tertiary-level work in cancer, cardiac and neuroscience care outside Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Senior medical posts are often filled by consultants seconded from Seoul National University Hospital, while nursing, allied health and many physician roles are recruited internationally. Ras Al Khaimah has a lower cost of living than Dubai, and government-sector packages in the UAE typically include housing support, annual flights and medical insurance. Because the hospital is in Ras Al Khaimah, clinical staff need a MOHAP licence rather than a DHA or DOH one.
To work at SKSH, healthcare professionals typically need a valid UAE license from Ministry of Health and Prevention. Neelim's licensing service handles the entire application process, including Dataflow PSV and Prometric exam registration.
Typical Roles
Hiring Process
Vacancies are posted on the hospital's own job portal at sksh.ae/jobs, which filters roles by category (admin, allied health, nursing, physician). Shortlisted candidates are interviewed by the hiring department, and medical appointments go through credentialing. Before you can practise you need a MOHAP licence: apply for MOHAP's Health Professional Evaluation with UAE PASS, complete DataFlow primary source verification, then sit the MOHAP exam for your category unless you qualify for an exemption. If you already hold a valid DHA or DOH licence, MOHAP's transfer route may apply. Medical fitness and visa processing follow the offer.
Neelim's career guidance team can help you navigate this process and prepare for interviews.
