Sit 12 original exam-style questions at real exam pace
These are 12 original questions taken from our Endodontics bank, spread across 7 of the 9 domains of the published blueprint. You get 72 seconds per question, which is exactly the pace of the real END5021 exam (14 minutes for 12). At the end you will see which domains you are weakest in, and the full worked reasoning for every question.

A short diagnostic cannot predict whether you will pass - only the real exam does that. It will show you, honestly, where you currently stand.
What the real Endodontics licensing exam looks like
Candidates for a Endodontics licence in the UAE sit a computer-based multiple-choice examination - DHA exam code END5021, delivered through Prometric for DHA, MOHAP and SHA, and through Pearson VUE for DOH Abu Dhabi. The DHA pass mark is 60% (DHA CBT Guideline, Sep 2026); other authorities set their own, so confirm yours before booking. The result is reported to you as pass or fail only - your score is never released.
Pass marks at a glance: DHA exam codes and pass marks for all written exams in one sourced table.
The paper is built to a published blueprint, which is why a domain-by-domain diagnostic is more useful than a raw percentage. Your questions above were drawn from across Cleaning, Shaping and Irrigation, Pulpal and Periapical Diagnosis, Radiology, Infection Control and Ethics, Obturation and Restoration of Treated Teeth and 3 more - the same areas the real paper weights.
Before you can book the exam at all you need Dataflow primary source verification of your degree, licence and experience, which typically runs several weeks. Candidates routinely underestimate this and end up sitting the exam sooner after study than they planned. Check where you stand with our free eligibility checker or confirm whether your title even requires an exam using the Prometric exam checker.
You get three attempts in total across all UAE authorities - not three each - under the Unified Professional Qualification Requirements. At roughly AED 1,030 per attempt, plus the licensing delay each failure adds to your visa and start date, the cost of going in underprepared is not really the exam fee.

A worked Endodontics exam question
Every question in the diagnostic and in the paid bank is written to this standard: a clinical stem, four plausible options and the reasoning for the answer, with its source.
Cleaning, Shaping and Irrigation
A patient asks to have root canal treatment without rubber dam because she finds it uncomfortable. What is the most appropriate response?
- AAgree and isolate with cotton rolls and suction
- BAgree provided high-volume suction is used
- CExplain dam is essential and adapt it for comfortCorrect
- DProceed without dam but prescribe antibiotics
Why: Rubber dam isolation is the standard of care for endodontic treatment because it prevents salivary contamination and protects the airway from instruments and irrigants. The clinician should explain this and adapt the technique for comfort rather than omit it.

Endodontics sample questions with answers
4 more original exam-style Endodontics questions, worked in full. They are not real or recalled exam questions, and none of them is in the diagnostic above, so sit that first if you have not.
Question 1 · Cleaning, Shaping and Irrigation
After mechanical preparation with sodium hypochlorite, which irrigant is used as a final rinse to remove the inorganic component of the smear layer?
- A2% chlorhexidine
- B17% EDTA
- C0.9% saline
- D3% hydrogen peroxide
Show answer and explanation
Correct answer: B. 17% EDTA
17% EDTA chelates calcium and removes the inorganic portion of the smear layer, while sodium hypochlorite dissolves the organic portion. Chlorhexidine has substantivity but does not dissolve tissue or remove smear layer.

Question 2 · Dental Trauma and Endodontic Emergencies
A mature maxillary incisor was replanted 20 minutes after avulsion after storage in milk. What splint type and duration are recommended?
- ARigid splint for 6 weeks
- BFlexible splint for 2 weeks
- CRigid splint for 4 months
- DNo splint is required
Show answer and explanation
Correct answer: B. Flexible splint for 2 weeks
Avulsed teeth are stabilised with a passive flexible splint for 2 weeks, which allows physiological movement and reduces replacement resorption. Rigid and prolonged splinting increase the risk of ankylosis.

Question 3 · Dental Trauma and Endodontic Emergencies
A 15-year-old has a horizontal root fracture in the middle third of tooth 11 with displacement of the coronal fragment. After repositioning, how long should the tooth be splinted?
- A2 weeks
- B4 weeks
- C12 months
- D1 week
Show answer and explanation
Correct answer: B. 4 weeks
Horizontal root fractures are stabilised with a passive flexible splint for 4 weeks, extended to up to 4 months when the fracture is in the cervical third. Two weeks is the duration for avulsion and luxation injuries, not root fractures.

Question 4 · Endodontic Microbiology and Pathology
A root-filled tooth shows a persistent periapical lesion after 4 years. Which facultative gram-positive organism is most frequently associated with persistent infection and resists calcium hydroxide?
- APorphyromonas gingivalis
- BPrevotella intermedia
- CFusobacterium nucleatum
- DEnterococcus faecalis
Show answer and explanation
Correct answer: D. Enterococcus faecalis
Enterococcus faecalis is frequently isolated from root-filled teeth with persistent lesions and survives the high pH of calcium hydroxide by proton pump mechanisms. Porphyromonas, Prevotella and Fusobacterium are gram-negative anaerobes typical of primary infections.

How to use this diagnostic properly
- 1Sit it cold, once. Do not look anything up. A diagnostic you help yourself through tells you nothing. The number you get is only useful if it is honest.
- 2Read every rationale - especially the ones you got right. Getting a question right by elimination is not the same as knowing it. The worked reasoning is free above, whether or not you buy anything.
- 3Work weakest domain first. The breakdown orders your domains worst-first for exactly this reason. Studying what you are already good at feels productive and moves nothing.
- 4Re-sit under full exam conditions later. The real paper is far longer than this and stamina matters. Full-length timed papers are what the paid bank is for.
